Retrospective and Photo Gallery

Relive some of the best moments from MARESEC 2025 in Rostock! Our photo gallery captures highlights from inspiring presentations and lively discussions. With 102 participants, including 86 on-site and 16 online, the hybrid workshop with two keynotes, an industry panel discussion, and ten technical sessions provided a successful platform for interdisciplinary innovation and exchange.

Topics such as cybersecurity, autonomous systems, digital twins, and the legal and societal dimensions of maritime technologies were explored from multiple angles. Discussions ranged from the technical implementation and integration of emerging technologies to their broader implications for safety, regulation, and public trust.

The NDR Nordmagazin also reported on the conference emphasizing the importance of secure infrastructure at sea. You can find the television report (in German) here: Sichere Infrastruktur auf See – Internationale Konferenz (NDR).

The two keynotes were central elements of the MARESEC 2025 program bringing together perspectives from industry and academia. The talks provided valuable impulses for the discussions throughout the conference.

Fabian Bannasch (EvoLogics) opened the program with his talk on Maritime Security showcasing EvoLogics' submersible robots. He demonstrated how these innovative systems are designed for diverse missions and how they fit into a broader, AI-enabled underwater ecosystem that supports secure and sustainable marine operations.

Sascha Kosleck (University of Rostock) delivered the second keynote on Engineering Resilience Before the Storm Hits. His presentation emphasized that in today's interconnected maritime environments, resilience goes far beyond structural robustness. With growing cybersecurity risks and system complexity, his talk urged a rethinking of resilience and integrating technical, operational, and societal dimensions to prepare maritime systems for the challenges ahead.

A highlight of MARESEC 2025 was the industry panel discussion Towards Collaborative Maritime Autonomy: Scaling from Single Vessels to Maritime Fleets. The panel brought together leading voices from innovation, consulting, and analytics to explore both the opportunities and challenges of developing scalable, cooperative autonomy in the maritime domain.

Fedor Ester (Demcon Unmanned Systems) joined remotely via video call (top of the image).

The lively exchange covered technological, operational, and regulatory perspectives ranging from prototyping and testing to real-world deployment at scale.

We thank all participants, speakers, and partners who contributed to MARESEC 2025 and helped make the event a success. We are already looking ahead to the next edition and hope to see you there.
